Windows Task Scheduler with blank password

Besides the integrated Backup Service Scheduler, KLS Backup can also use the Windows Task Scheduler to run unattended backup and synchronization jobs. By default, local accounts that are not password protected cannot be used to log on from locations other than the local computer console, therefore users with blank password cannot create schedule tasks. This is a security option that can be changed in the Local Security Policy editor.

Open Control Panel - Administrative Tools - Local Security Policy and change the setting of Limit local account use of blank passwords to console logon only to Disabled.

Local Security Policy

With this setting disabled, you are allowed to create scheduled tasks without a password.

Computers that are not in physically secure locations should always enforce strong password policies for all local user accounts. Otherwise, anyone with physical access to the computer can log on by using a user account that does not have a password.
